| ABOUT THE COURSE | Integrated Teacher Education Programme ( ITEP) is a dual-major, four years undergraduate course. It is designed to prepare teachers for different levels of school education like foundational, preparatory, middle and secondary. It offers degrees like B. A. B. Ed., B. Sc. B. Ed. and B. Com. B. Ed.. This course is allowing students to become qualified teachers in four years. Under this course, students gain expertise in both their chosen subject area (arts, science and commerce) and teacher education. It aims to provide a comprehensive education in a shorter timeframe compared to traditional B. Ed. Programme. This course focuses on practical teaching experiences, academic coursework, pedagogy, classroom management and teaching methodologies. National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) introduced the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP). ITEP seamlessly combines general education with professional teacher training, offering a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to teaching which is aligned with the National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020. It is a flagship programme under the National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020. Nowgong College (Autonomous) is a government institution. Recently, it is declared as university. The college operates in full compliance with the guidelines set forth by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Assam, as well as the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is managed by a Governing body, which is constituted by the Government of Assam, ensuring effective administration and strategic direction. In order to enhance educational offerings, Nowgong College (Autonomous) has formally applied to the Eastern Regional Committee (ERC-NCTE) for the introduction of the four-years integrated of B. A.- B. Ed. Programme under the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) for the academic year 2025- 2026. This step helps the institution to provide high quality higher education and prepares the learners to become efficient teachers in different stages of school education. |
