The Department of History, established on 7th August 1944, offers courses at both UG and PG levels, with an updated library and a museum. It also organizes specialized seminars, webinars, and lectures. According to NEP, students are allowed to enrol in courses offered by the department as well as courses in other departments. Faculty members actively guide research projects and have contributed academically through publishing, UGC sponsored projects, and involvement on editorial boards.
Vision: To utilise teaching, research, and extension activities to improve students' awareness of the past and its impact on society.
Mission: To transform youth into competent, independent learners, responsible, respectful citizens with a wide variety of personality.
Best Practices: Students actively participate in research projects and receive individualised mentoring from our faculty members. We prioritise community involvement, plan inclusive events, provide accessible materials, and respect student input.
Students progression: Graduates in the history department frequently move on to work in management, business, public service, or historical research. They may excel in a variety of fields and make important contributions to society because of their exceptional critical thinking skills and historical knowledge.
